If you are looking for an awesome venue for an intimate gathering, “THE CAPTAIN’S DECK” at the BRASS BELL is the place. Our family would like to thank Marche Wight and her team for providing us with the most amazing service.  We wanted a space for a small wedding ceremony followed by the reception in the same space and they did it. The Captains Deck has the most amazing view of the ocean which was used as the backdrop for the ceremony. The seamless transformation between the ceremony and reception, while family photos were taken by the pool, by the Brass Bell team was amazing. Even faced with the major setback in the form of the council shutting off power to Kalk Bay for the entire day, the team at the Brass Bell were up for the challenge and managed to pull off the most amazing meal and experience despite the setback! We were so impressed by the can-do attitude and willingness to make the day amazing. We can truly recommend this venue to everyone. An Amazing Experience

I went to the Brass Bell twice in a short space of time. The first one was to watch a band on the Seaweed and Salt section and another for drinks and dinner at the original restaurant, upstairs on the deck.  Food and service at Seaweed & Salt was excellent and considering how busy they were made it even better, so much so that I changed our venue for dinner the next week to come back.  Sadly they operate as different restaurants, different kitchens and different quality. The sushi at upstairs Oyster bar area was average, and the cocktails were average. The waiter was fine.    I think if you want sushi go elsewhere, but if you want drinks then the old section of the Bell is great with the views. Their burgers etc all looked nice enough.

Dinner before show in the Kalk Bay theater. Food was dismal. Waited for ever for main course and when it eventually arrived calamari was cold and fish dish not even cooked! Butter on top of the fish was still frozen! Disgusting and inedible - what a disappointment! Won&apos;t be back in a hurry. 

Brass Bell gets NO bell

This restaurant was recommended by our local friends. You can‘t get closer to the ocean, not even in a ship. We ordered the platter for two, which was delicious and way more food than we could eat. Our server Hein was very friendly.  Great experience!

A real gem at Kalk Bay

Superb pensioners’ lunch - great food, greasy views, great value - one of cape town’s oldest gems - many  thanks to our gracious host Hein!
